Since the days that I owned a Slimming Clinic, I have always been keen on the idea of intermittent fasting. The numerous benefits thereof came under my attention again after reading this great informative article written by Kris Gunnars.

I recently incorporated this in my lifestyle again. I eat before 8pm and then fast until 12:00. That gives me 16 hours of ‘cleaning and recovering’ and 8 hours of ‘nourishing’. Now, for someone like me, who is very active and regularly working out in the mornings, I anticipated challenges.

However, I have experienced the following:

  1. No change in energy levels in my early morning workouts
  2. I have lots of extra energy and after a few days, my appetite regulated to normal in the 8 hours of ‘nourishing’ time.
  3. I focus on eating very nutritious food’ when I eat, to nourish my body and replenish the energy I’ve used.
  4. My recovery after running seems faster and easier.
  5. My water-intake increased.
  6. I feel very lean and healthy.
  7. I focus easier, I feel mentally very clear.
  8. As for headaches or other anticipated ‘bad’ feelings – I experienced nothing like that as yet.

Read it and decide if you want to give it a try.

I am interested in IF coaching. I have been sick for 8 plus weeks with bronchitis that is much better and asthma that won’t go away. Should I wait to get well before starting? Will longer term water fasting help with asthma?
